FOURTH ANNUAL WAKKERSTROOM

NATURAL FIBRE HANDCRAFT FAIR

SATURDAY 24th MARCH 2012

Venue: NG Church Hall

Time: 9.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m.

Entrance fee: R5.00

 

Come and buy excellent quality handmade goods. See demonstrations of weaving, spinning, embroidery, lace making, quilting, and creative knitting, felting and much more. Delicious homemade refreshments available. Secure parking available.

 

Learn a new craft from top teachers. Various workshops to choose from.

For workshop times, requirements and bookings please phone the appropriate teacher. Numbers are limited per workshop – so PLEASE book early.

  • Exhibits and workshops will run concurrently with the Fair. Workshops could also be held in the afternoon. Our Fibre Fair is growing in stature so we now have the use of TWO halls. There will be plenty of space for everyone!

 

  • All tables and chairs are provided and included in the cost.

 

  • The halls will be open on Friday 23rd March from 2 – 4.0p.m. for those who would like to set up their tables the day before. This is a secure alarmed venue.

 

  • Cost of a table to exhibit is R100.00 per table.

WAKKERSTROOM NATURAL FIBRE HANDCRAFT FAIR 2010

WHERE: Wakkerstroom NG KERK HALL

Our third Annual Natural Fibre Handcraft Fair is not far away. The idea behind the Fair is to create awareness and to promote all the old hand skills and at the same time lessening our “carbon footprint” by trying to buy more natural products.

There is a growing demand by the public wanting to know more about from where their garments  originate, and from what is it made. Is it pure cotton or mixed with a synthetic manmade fibre? Somehow anything made by hand has a certain “life” to it, which is imparted into the fibre by the person who made it.

Come and see demonstrations of lace-making, spinning, weaving, quilting, creative knitting and embroidery etc. Some of the natural fibres featured at the Fair, to mention a few, are cotton, marino, cashmir, alpaca and silk.
